Terrific sponsorship opportunities!

Liberty, Freedom and Princess run toward the camera (ooh, you can see a bit of Clover behind!)
The arrival of a new year brings new beginnings, along with opportunities for new sponsors! We invite any Colorado resident to participate in this program. As a sponsor, you can enjoy being a part of a rescue horse’s recovery, the growth and progress of an adorable foal, or the support of an extraordinary horse that is used in our youth and empowerment programs. For a monthly donation of your choice, you can be part of the life of a horse of your choosing, supplying food and other needs, and receiving pictures and updates about your chosen horse. Sponsors are also welcome to visit and develop a hands-on relationship with their horse. For this interaction, the sponsor will need to sign a volunteer waiver and be taught how to safely work with/around horses.
Here are just some of the wonderful horses who would love to have you for a sponsor:
At the time of the original post, we figured Princess to be about 6 weeks old. She was still learning to trust, as she and her mother seemed a little more mentally traumatized by the auction ordeal than Liberty was. Princess was a tiny thing, and she is growing into a beauty!
Clover is enjoying the attentions of a volunteer who has hit “the spot” while currying. Princess can be seen nursing behind her. Clover is eager to trust people and to please. She has rallied well from her starvation since her foal was weaned, but still has quite a bit of meat left to put on her bones before coming into her own as a sturdy riding pony!
Coco Poco loves to have a job. He finds primping and coddling tedious. His favorite activity is to be ridden, and he enjoys being a vital part of the Empowerment Program. Having faced the prospect of euthanasia because of founder, this little guy was helped back to soundness at FSHR. He’s 19 years old (2012). What this little guy needs most right now is a sponsor to help pay for his hoof trims, feed, and joint supplements.
Sponsorship will also help him to get his own equipment, such as a saddle that fits him. Right now, a small saddle has to be borrowed.
Brandy is a beautiful, affectionate Quarter Horse who has lived at FSHR since 2008. She is a wonderful girl, and has had the worst luck being adopted. Through no fault of her own, two adoptions did not work out for her, so she went “home” and was returned twice. Later, she was frightened when on a trail ride, another horse bit her on the butt, resulting in a runaway and her rider bailing off. Brandy is a talented trail/pleasure horse, just a bit of a handful under saddle, and the right owner could work through her fears and have a great time together. But that right person has not yet found her, and poor Brandy so badly wants to be loved.
To sponsor any horse, Coloradoans can either use the Donate Now button, or download our sponsorship form. Sponsored horses are still available for adoption to permanent homes, and the sponsor will be notified when this occurs. At that point, the sponsorship will end, with a heartfelt thank you from the horse. Equipment provided by sponsors specifically for the horse will be re-assigned to another rescue horse, or purchased from the rescue by the new owner.
