Liberty (adopted 2/20/12)

Liberty, Sept. 2011

I am a 2006 Quarter Horse mare who shows an aptitude for working cattle.  I am healthy, current on vaccinations, dental work, and deworming.  I trailer well, accept farrier work, love grooming and all sorts of attention.

I came to the rescue in April, 2011, pregnant and starving.  I had just undergone the trauma of the auction ring, and my bid was won by an Angel determined to save me from danger of slaughter.  I had a large wound in my left shoulder.  A month later, I gave birth to a beautiful black colt, whose name was Freedom from the moment of his birth.  He is happily adopted now.  I hope to find a home where I will be ridden often and appreciated for the healing quality of my nature.

Hi again, I was just wondering a few things. Could Liberty go into english riding? How tall is Liberty? How much money would you like for her?

Libby has just, as of this week, entered into the adoption process. We have high hopes that this will result in her forever home. If this process doesn’t go through to completion, Libby would come available again, so I will answer your question: I believe she could go English. She is very uncomfortable in a shank bit, and I don’t think she is ready for one. She’s responsive to a rope halter, a plain snaffle bit, and some, but not all of the leg aids we use in English riding. She’s definitely not a “finished” horse but intelligent and easy to train.
